  • Wow, that looks great! I sure hope you can ship to us in the US who are always protected by our over-vigilant government. Can't wait for you to open!
  • You should take all the snuff spillage in the shipping packages and mix em all together. Then sell the concoction by the bag once you get enough. I'm very excited to see your shop open.
  • don't know if it is still being produced, but Sun Pari is one of my favorite Indian snuffs.

Don't think they are still going but I would be loved go be proved wrong.

  • I know ill probably get blasted for this like every other person thats brought up concerns about quality control, but i cant help noticing the state of those tins and box... if i was selling snuff and a supplier sent me something like that id tell them where to shove it! the 6p 66, cheeta and white elephant i received from mrsnuff were in a bit of a state, but i kept quiet seeing what happened in other threads. i have to say something now though, looking at those pictures... thats pretty bad.
  • Would you ship to Poland?

I would agree, however that was just a sample order which was posted in a DHL box and seem to have had a bump on the way over from india The tins actually cleaned up quite nicely to be honest. I have been promised the orders will come in a 5PLY box preventing this from happening.

Of course for the stock my shop I wont be accepting any battered tins and will only be selling unmarked tins.

Plus i think @lunecat would have a bit very upset if i wasn't going to stock the TPS snuff after all :)

    @Viertel Yup of course

First stock should be arriving in a week or two.

  • @firestarter0 it's a hard job but someone has to do it.

Just a quick question to see if its worth looking into.

Would anyone be interested if i was stock 1KG tins of 6Photo for sale around £30-£35 ($50-$57) ?

Edit: If there is enough interest the price should go down to around £27, if there isn't enough interest to justify stocking them permanently, but enough people want the same style (around 10 people) I can always do a one off order.
  • Is snuff really that big in India? I guess it doesn't surprise me, but it's interesting to think about. I wonder if snuff is on par with cigarettes there in terms if popularity. Indian culture is so rich to the senses, I bet their snuffs are quite an experience. I'm very intrigued about Indian snuffs and looking forward to the online shop you are creating.

Ive always loved tigers, anything tiger related, tiger striped decorations, you name it... its just one of my quirks. So im very curious about that authentic Indian tiger branded snuff! Even if the snuff in it were bad I'd still buy it for the box. But it's not available? :(

Yes snuff really is that big over there, but a lot of people use it to brush their teeth with.

The tiger snuff is not available due it to being made from real tigers (joke of course). The real reason its hard to get hold of is most of these companies have a huge markets in India so they have no interest in exporting tiny amounts of their snuff aboard.

I have tried to contact the company that makes the tiger snuff but with no luck so far.

A few brands of Indian snuff are already available at the usual online snuff stores.
  • @Mario84 It may be german but mrstuff has a tiger style snuff

Yeah, thanks, I have it on my list. The box is nice, and I could use it for other snuffs (because it's original contents doesn't sound to appealing to me anyway), but the fact that it says Cola on it is just too random too my liking. : P
Do you think there is any possibility of you getting a hold of the tiger snuff from the first picture? Or are you sure it's pretty much out of reach - so to speak?

Oh now I see you already answered that.
  • @Mario84 well i'm interested in stocking it and the other brands they have to offer, however they don't seem to interested to replying to my emails.

Can't promise anything but i am trying.
  • Just to let everyone know the website will be open in a few weeks after my first bulk order arrives, currently it's in the middle of the sea somewhere.

I am VERY hopeful that you will be able to stock 5 Photo Super Himalaya (Special and Himlaya also). I have not been able to get a hold of any in several years... I have tried many Indian snuff, and personally I think it is the best. I am certain it would be quite popular. :-)
  • @NJE03 I'm trying believe me. Will give them another chaser tomorrow

@NJE03 I still have a few pinches of Super Himalaya left that I've squirreled away for a rainy day, its of great comfort to me to know I still have some left.

Although 6P Kailash is similar to Himalaya and 5P Special is similar to 6P Special, Super Kailash is NOTHING like Super Himalaya which is probably the reason I don't like Super Kailash, I was expecting something similar to Super Himalaya and when I got something that tasted very different I was incredibly disappointed to say the least.

I picked up a 100 grams in Tibet. It's a nice, strong, plain snuff. Girl friend's daughter has first call on the tins, she has started a collection of animal-themed snuff tins.

From what @SixPhoto and others have said, I don't think it's THAT big really. It's mainly tribals who use it, and some small sub-groups of Indians. But there's almost half a billion people living in India, so even a small proportion adds up to a reasonable sized market. My lady is a teacher at a school attended by many Indian expats in Jakarta, she asked some of the parents and teachers there about snuff, but everyone just gave her a blank look. One Gujerati woman lived in the same town that Dholakia is made in, she'd heard of it but no-one she knew used it. I went down to the large Indian grocery store in Jakarta on the off-chance that they stocked it. They had betel nut and chewing tobacco, but no snuff.

  • @JakartaBoy Indian population is estimated to be around 1.2 billion at this time,so there is a sizable market for almost everything.
Snuff is not the most popular of tobacco products, chewing tobacco, khaini (snus),pan masala and Gutka (now banned.) are definitely more popular but nevertheless there is a sizable market for snuff.
There must be about 100 odd units of snuff in India though I dont have the exact number.
