All has been said already tbh but what scents do you like: Samuel Gawith Firedance: blackberry and brandy is lovely. I would avoid all toasts and fine dry snuffs for the time being.
Oops I must read previous posts x 100.
Label looks good but I will stick to the drier snuffs not a big fan of germanic moist snuffs tbh but plenty who are good luck with them.
I don't know very much and Johnny himself might stop by to say more. However I think he has always been a tobacco enthusiast and the "Border Snuff" name comes from the fact that he lives on the English/Scottish border and that is where he makes it.
New tins would be cool though screw top tins tend to stay fresher longer I find. I would love to see you launch a decent line of accessories, maybe a nice pewter snuffbox?I actually voted remain but I think the TPD is the worst of EU over meddling. …
The most powerful fine snuff I have tried is SWS St James' Parish. It really does give you a rush but does not make you feel ill like Toque Rustica (and their Whiskey and Honey USA for me too)
100 year guarantee? Your snuff is good thanks but a lifetime warranty on snuff lol? Only no quibble lifetime guarantee I have come across is on Victorinox knives and La Creusset kitchen ware.
St James Parish is lovely. I seldom reach for any snuff but Johnny's now. Havana Toast and Lundy Foot are similar in dryness and strength though do not have the unique sourness of the SJP. Very good in the meantime while you wait. Creme de Figue is …
welcome to the 21st Century business model of efficiency, cost cutting and over inflated "brand" marketing. I would like to see that article but seriously there are very few small craft enterprises doing things the old way anymore. If you want a tru…
I emailed them and the snuff is now made on an industrial eatate outside Kendal with none of the old machinery brought over. As for a national snuff well we don't grow tobacco in the UK so it is imported anyway. I guess you mean where the labour is …
I heartily agree I will always have some of Johnny's snuffs to hand. The diference in quality compared to the mass produced snuffs is marked particularly in the pure tobacco flavours. The Sweet Golden Horn and St James' Parish in particular. This is…
I have not tried any of the Indian snuffs. The most potent I have tried are Sir Walter Scott's Lundy Foot and St James' Parish. Toasted with Rustica: gives a nice high with lovely tobacco flavours.More expensive than usual but Johnny uses the finest…
It was my first snuff this bought on a whim in Scotland. It was ok but a bit to hay like for my taste. I didn't finish the tin. I ended up throwing it away.
